Little ones are drawn to movement, and the Axe & Co Ball Tumbler has plenty of it. Give the drum a turn and five colourful balls tumble and click between the dowels. It’s a Montessori ball tumbler that turns watching, reaching and spinning into play.

Made in our NZ workshop, this wooden spinning drum sits steady on its A-frame stand while little hands do the work. There are no batteries, lights or screens, just simple, open-ended play. It’s a great tummy time toy for babies from around 6 months, and it keeps its charm from the floor to the highchair.

🔄 How It Works

The drum is mounted in a sturdy A-frame stand and spins freely when turned by hand. As it rotates, the five balls tumble and click between the dowels. A crossbar between the legs of the stand adds strength and gives curious hands something extra to hold. The balls stay securely enclosed inside the drum, so there’s nothing to lose.

🪵 Premium, Child-Safe Materials

Every Axe & Co toy is made with little hands (and mouths!) in mind. The Ball Tumbler is built from untreated plywood and wooden dowels. Each of the five balls is coloured with natural, kiddy-safe coloured oils, and every part of the tumbler is finished with a clear natural oil protective coating.

🧽 Care Instructions

Wipe clean with a dry or lightly damp cloth. Avoid moisture and direct sunlight to keep the timber and oil finish looking its best.

⚠️ Safety Note

The balls are a choking hazard if released. They’re securely enclosed inside the dowel drum and cannot fall out, even if the dowels are flexed. Before each use, please check that the drum is secure and that no dowels are broken. Adult supervision is always recommended, especially during tummy time and with babies.
